This exclusive "hands on" study trip and workshop for appraisers and non-appraisers who want to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of great French furniture and related decorative arts also welcomes dealers, auctioneers, interior designers and serious private collectors. The workshop will begin with a private breakfast as guests of Christie's, followed by a walkthrough of the collection on view at Christie's of the legendary Parisian antiquaire Bernard and Benjamin Steinitz.

This milestone auction, entitled Le Gôut Steinitz will be a thrilling note on which to start our 2-day voyage of learning and discovery. The walkthrough will be given personally by the head of the Christie's Department of French and Continental Furniture, Will Strafford. Other excursions will include privileged private visits with the owners of long established galleries known for their superb examples of great 18th Century French Furniture.

In the company of the eminent Thierry Millerand, our small group will be permitted special access to the inventory of The Chinese Porcelain Company and Dalva Brothers which recently relocated to splendid new headquarters in Manhattan. Other excursions will include viewing of important furniture in the collections of the Frick and the Metropolitan Museum with Juan P Lluria, another respected specialist in French 18th Century decorative arts.

All participants will receive a free copy of the Christie's auction catalogue for Le Gôut Steinitz. This exciting inaugural IAA excursion will end with a cozy champagne reception at the elegant residence of Thierry Millerand in New York City as the second day winds up to a rewarding close.

Guest Lecturer:
Thierry Millerand graduated from Sotheby's Institute in London and began his career as assistant to the legendary Sir Francis Watson at the Wallace Collection.
